about

Heavenly’s first LP for Sarah Records was, like the two that followed, an eight-song affair - though both sides of early 7” singles I Fell In Love Last Night are Our Love Is Heavenly are included here. The band were still a four-piece, Cathy Rogers having yet to join, so the sound, at least vocally, is maybe simpler than what followed, but that just means more room for the guitars, bass and drums, and Heavenly vs Satan is pretty much a perfect pop punk artefact, hook-laden and heartfelt, Amelia Fletcher’s vocals laced alternately with humour and emotion, then suddenly soaring into Shallow’s towering chorus.

Cathy Rogers joined later on keyboards/vocals. They released five singles and three albums on Sarah Records and then, after Sarah ended, a final album on Wiiija/K. ... more
